BBQ Beef Ribs

Serves 8 people

Beef ribs from standing rib roast: 8 lb
Onion, chopped: 1 cup
Garlic, mashed: 1 tsp
Vegetable oil: ¼-cup
Mustard, prepared: 2 tsp
Tomato puree, canned: 1 cup
Sugar, granulated: 2 cups
Soy sauce: 2 Tbsp
White vinegar: 1 cup
Bay leaves: 2
Hot pepper sauce: 1 tsp
BBQ spice: 1 tsp (optional)
Salt: 2 tsp

Arrange the ribs on a rack in a baking pan.

Sauté the onion and garlic in oil until translucent. Add all remaining ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain.

Brush the BBQ sauce generously over the ribs coating them thoroughly. Bake at 375 to 400° for 45 minutes, basting frequently with the sauce until the ribs are very well done and tender.
