Doughnuts: 2-1/2 cups flour 2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg 1/2 cup sugar 2/3 cup butter 1 cup milk 1 egg, well beaten 1 cup grated apple 1/2 cup shredded coconut Topping: 1/3 cup melted butter 1/3 cup sugar 1 teaspoon cinnamon |

Sift together flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and sugar. Cut in the butter until mixture resembles fine crumbs.
Mix together milk, egg, apple, and coconut; add all at once to flour mixture and mix quickly and thoroughly.
Fill buttered large muffin tins two-thirds full. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from pan. Immediately dunk doughnut tops in melted butter and then in combined sugar and cinnamon.
